Chronic Sythe

Chronic Sythe

Role: Producer, MC
Releases: An.o.nym.i.ty (2005), Pocket Watch (2010), Medium Rare (2011)
Ill-Legitimate was born to the dirty, dusty, basement style of Sythe’s production. The rawness expressed through his drums contrasts yet complements the smoothness of the sampled jazz, bluegrass, swing, soul and classical records he employs. He often hires live instruments to emphasize the organic vibe of his sound. With that, a beat machine and a cause, Sythe, raised in Richmond, BC, started producing beats for Ill-legitimate co-founder, Anonymouz, in 2002.

Though focused mainly on beat-making, Sythe as an emcee was heard first on "Beatsmartz" from the Anonymity album in 2005 and he'd go on to feature both talents on international albums such as P Butta's Entrenched and the Dutch/English album, Klassiek.

In late 2009 he started a fresh, jazz/hip-hop collaboration concept project with veteran Vancouver rapper, Azrael, called Pocket Watch. Following that album, the two have combined for one more project, similar in it’s elements, but with a harder, more aggressive approach. The five track EP is called Medium Rare and can be found for FREE download on this site (by clicking on our Store). To promote the two projects, they went on a tour of Western Canada in 2011.

His attention to detail and work ethic have awarded him only a small part of the respect that both his production and lyrics deserve on an international scale.
